Hermitage Cottage, situated in Box, was originally three separate cottages rented out for weekend visits.
We were commissioned by our client to incorporate them together into one large house, that could host up to 16 people, whilst maintaining the look and feel of three separate cottages.
To achieve this we increased the floor area of the building by 240% by adding additional floors, new extensions and repairing and extending the exterior. We altered and upgraded interior living spaces such as the living room and kitchen, to enable 16 people to socialise comfortably, and used different style windows and doors to maintain the feel of 3 distinct parts of the house. We also designed an eleven kilometre bookshelf that ran throughout the house, creating an extensive in house library.
